The film describes a few days in the life of the writer Robert Harmon (John Cassavetes) and his sister Sarah (Gena Rowlands). The decadent life of Robert is made of alcohol, cigarettes, and short-time relationships with women; women he interviews for a book, he spends a weekend with at a casino or fall in love with for the fun of an evening (Diahnne Abbott and her mother). Having no constraints, he his unable to be responsible for anything including the care of his son, leaving him alone in an hotel room and teaching the 12-years old boy how to drink. His life is made of his own phantasms as an artist. His sister is divorcing from her husband because of her exuberant and insane behavior. She scares her daughter Debbie who prefers to stay with her father (Seymour Cassel), a decision that hurts Sarah very deeply and reinforces her nervous breakdown. Most of the movie takes place in the house of Robert (in reality, it was the house of John Cassavetes and Gena Rowlands in Los Angeles). We watch Robert and Sarah struggling with their own lives. As the movie progresses, they end up with each other. The house gets empty little by little until Robert remains alone, after Sarah left him for another man. At the end of the movie, John Cassavetes waves goodbye to the viewers with his hat, addressing a farewell to movies and to life.
 
Fact-based story about a disturbed office furniture salesman (Sean Penn) who in 1972 concocted a plot to kill then-President Nixon by hi-jacking a plane to fly over the White House to drop a gas bomb. At the start of the movie, the man is separated from his wife and stressed in his job where he is made the butt of jokes and is an under-performer. Attempts to get his brother's old tire business resurrected with a black partner is rejected by the banks. When he is officially served with divorce papers, everything comes apart and Richard Nixon's broken promises comes to represent all the evils that have come down on him. A news story about a pilot that landed a helicopter on the White House lawn gives him the idea for his attack. Bolting onto a Baltimore plane, he attempts the hi-jacking.

This film is British and has a few Chinese subtitles, but is mostly spoken in English. It has won several awards and has very high reviews. It's chilling and thought provoking.
A trawler and its crew struggle to make ends meet as fish stocks dwindle. Desperate to maintain a livelihood that has existed in the family for generations, the Skipper's son, Sean (Martin Compston) decides to take on a secret cargo of Chinese immigrants. The trip back to Scotland becomes a nightmare as the stowaways endure hell in the hold. The Skipper (Gary Lewis), apparently unaware of his cargo, keeps the boat at sea chasing the big catch that will save his boat.
 
After a chance encounter, a Dubliner (Gleeson) is stalked by a murderous facsimile of himself.
 
It depicts a rare insight into the exclusivity of sibling relationships and utilises a neutral tone that ironically intensifies every second of the story. Although the movie skims slightly upon cliches, that only helps to familiarise the audience with the plot so that they don't feel too alienated by the mystery of the twins. This most certainly is a treasured oddity in the video store.

Propaganda film that relates the story, as told by high school principal Dr. Carroll to parents at a PTA meeting, of the scourge of marijuana. The tale revolves around Mae and Jack, accomplices in the distribution of marijuana, who manage to entice the local high school kids to stop by Mae's apartment to smoke reefer. The lives of all who are involved with this menace are inevitably shattered. One man becomes so addicted to the killer weed that the guilt over framing a teen for murder causes a judge to order him to be committed for life to a mental hospital! Dr. Carroll closes by advising us to not incur the same tragedy.

As they both slowly get their lives back together, Michele becomes increasingly dependent on Alex as her vision deteriorates further. Fearing that Michele will leave him if she receives a new medical treatment Alex attempts to keep Michele practically a prisoner. The streets, skies and waterways of Paris are used as a backdrop to the story in a series of stunning visuals which dominate the film.
